Reporting a lookup that went wrong
A report is quickest to act on when it names the username you checked, the tab you opened, the result you expected and the result you got. The exact wording of the error helps most, and a screenshot of it helps even more. Passwords and copies of documents are never needed for anything we do, so leave them out.
When to expect an answer
Copyright and removal notices get a reply within 48 hours, and the removal page lists the parts of a valid notice. Answers to other messages usually take up to two working days.
Requests we cannot help with
- Recovering access to a locked or lost Instagram account.
- Getting past a private profile or any other restriction its owner set.
- Telling you which people saw your stories; only Instagram holds that list.
- Bringing back a story once its 24 hours are over, or a deleted post.
Problems with the Instagram account itself can only be fixed by Instagram, through its help section.
